An apology from a mortal earthling...

To the 'certain someone' I was referring to in my previous post(which has been edited now-infact all my references to this person has been obliterated)

Hey,
I know I had no business talking about u the way I did...Sorry 4 taking u 4 granted, misrepresenting wat u'd said and taking whatever u had said outta context...

Realized a lil' late that I was takin my poetic licence a bit too far...Into territories where it aint valid : the inverted commas...By quotin u n tweakin ur msg,I know I have caused u a great deal of disappointment-Not because u have a problem with wat ppl think abt u but cuz u held me in high regard n I took some undue advantage of that...

Jus wanted 2 let u know that I wasnt takin any judgemental stand whatsoever on what u intend 2 do wid ur life nor abt ur opinions on celibacy, marriage n life in general...Moral policing is the last thing I wanna do-trust me! Somehow end up doin dat n hurtin many ppl around...

Tell u wat, this whole incident has taught me a lesson of sorts! Abt humanity, one's values n their space...I respect u 4 wat u r n will continue 2...Though I might not agree wid ur perspective...Thanks 4 understanding...

Bon voyage!

P.S. To all those who had read de earlier version of my previous post, I wanna let u know that I stand corrected! ...N if any of u has been a victim of my moral policing,I owe u a big apology! Sorry n thanx 4 droppin by!

A Mellifluous air of poise...N other 'profound ramblings' :P

Was wonderin how t'is been pretty long since I heard something which would bring me a sense of calm...Been hearin a lotta good tracks, yes(Kaminey being the source of some) but none of 'em really brought the equanimity I was looking for...
Just heard the numbers of 'Ankahee'(2006)...N I instantly fell in love with 'em! I've already heard the song rendered by Kunal Ganjawala which goes 'Tumse yun milenge, humne socha na tha'-Dint've words 2 describe it! Outta de world, utopian come close...Never thought the other songs would be as good as this but realized today how wrong I was...
It doesnt really matter to me if Pritam is a copycat as long as he keeps churning out such brilliant pieces...N since I understand rhythm better now, thanks to my guitar lessons,I've started admiring his older numbers(of gangster, woh lamhe et al) even more...
On the personal front,I'm feelin good! Amidst all de tight schedules, deadlines et al,I 'manage' to eke out some time for activities which I consider ends in themselves(Music for 1 n readin 4 another)...

P.S Know my posts are getting increasingly random...Aint entirely intentional...Wil try bringin in some order from my next post...Whenever I post, that is :) Hey,but aint that against the second law of thermodynamics? ;D

Aint no COMmonPLACE, this!!!

It's official now! I'm into PLACECOM of NITIE...For the uninitiated,it's the abbreviation for PLACEment COMmittee...And it's arguably the most coveted of all committees in any B-School! I'd've said 'by far' the most coveted for which I can vouch for hands down! But then, I dont want dis 'attitude tag' that seems to be associated with every member of this committee...I aint gettin into that now...Lest it ruin my sense of being...
Pray, what comes with being a PLACECOM member,u might ask...As of now,the only answer I have is work, kaam aur more velai...Knowing that pretty well,we partied last night...
And the following happens to be the invitation we received from a senior PLACECOM co-ordinator...
"Folks,

In a short while from now, you will get buried under a workload that could easily crush two or three demigods. Before that happens, let us all celebrate your inclusion in a phenomenon called PlaceCom - the society of crusaders, the reason for the preeminence of this institute, the force that drives NITIE.

Tonight @ The lounge. Be there! I promise you an experience of a lifetime!

Cheers!

Ahh well, what more do I say?! Except that he kept his word! N how!

The party was something I'd remember for a long time to come...I sang (the sync software says I'm excellent at that ;) ),I danced(4 a loooong time) n I watched others get drunk (Ohh yea,u guessed that right-I'm still proud of my teetotaler tag- Hope 2 b,always! :D )
N wen asked 2 take de names of de hottest guys from my batch,a coupla girls took my name :P I paid 'em back ably by returning de compliment, though :)

We reached de insti early thursday morning(de wee hours) n had a hilllariously ummmazing GD session wid de guys who got drunk...Gosh I ROTFLMAO if I think of that!
I really think humour is de only virtue which can keep me sane in the nerve crushing work culture that dis air seems 2 smell of! N they call it the trip to hell...de official one that is :|

But all said n done,I feel really proud to be a part of these elite work-a-party-a-holics! These guys have changed my perception abt life in a span of 4 days! N I cant thank 'em enough 4 that! Hats off 2 u fellas!! We rock \m/

It's been a hard day's night...

And I've indeed been working like a dog...Absolutely no respite from my first hour of lecture on friday morning(Btw,it's 0500 hours saturday now) till de end of my last student committee interview now...Aint had a wink of sleep...N I've to attend my guitar class at 1000 hours this morning...Will hardly b gettin a coupla hours of sleep considerin I need to submit the nestle waala assignment on monday(More abt it n de interviews in de subsequent posts)...
Tel u wat-Ask me if I'm likin dis occupied 24x7 status,I'll answer with a resounding YES!
I somehow feel I belong here-totally at home wid de surroundings...Love de crowd in campus...Somehow like de torrential rains too...Brings out my energy levels...I love de adrenaline pumping 4 every other event happening here...
My eyelids r droopin n I wanna sign off...
I should be sleeping like a log...But when I come home to u and see the things that u do,I feel alright...

Goal Setting and the happenings in the first week...

This post comes appropriately on the day the soccer tournament is happening here in NITIE...I came here on the 15th and the last 5 days have passed,as if in a daze...Not that I wasnt mentally prepared for the deluge of activities that happened,though...
Jus wanted dis post to be a sign of things to come...To list out the goals I've to set,4 both de short n de long term, aint an easy task as my mind keeps shutting down every once in a while...
Holding my attention has particularly been difficult-loss of a decent nap 4 de past 48 hours is taking its toll on me...
June 18th was the induction day...Started off with the intros et al and when asked for my Unique Selling property(USP),after a moment of deep introspection,I said it's probably my passion for and proficiency in the english language...I'd gone on to say that I'm a bibliophile with a huge collection and how complex and compound sentences captivate my imagination...
What followed was my recital(if I cud cal it dat) of Hugo Weaving's monologue in V for Vendetta...I'd delivered it full length without a pause and received a huge applause from the crowd...Gratifying?Hell,Yeah! :)
Lotsa group activites followed and the crowd was on a high as the session was about to end at 0000 hours when the seniors threw in the spoiler...A marketing strategy case study had to be completed by 7 am the next morning...Sleepless night n a good amount of slogging ensured v completed it on time...
There was a tour of the campus early morning on the nineteenth...V'd already ventured on the 16th only to come within a foot of a 5 feet serpent :o
A session with the profs and another group activity followed...I was the narrator and I played my part pretty well...Meeting with the seniors in the evening again and v had to come up with an impromptu skit of sorts for a naughty line...The day ended with another case study based on equity research...It was a lot more complicated this time but thanx to my roomie(4 de fin. report),v managed to finish it JIT...
I'm not playing today n so am takin a break of sorts...Thought of updating this page after a looooong hiatus...
I'll try to keep the posts coming...This sure is theraupetic and I hope all de ppl there wid whom I've lost touch in de past week or so r readin dis...A BIG sorry to all of u 4 not botherin 2 reply 2 ur text messages and not taking calls...Particularly those really special souls who'd been there when I needed it the most...
Dint wanna end dis post on a corny note but wat de heck? It's my space n I say wat I wanna...Chao!

Workplace musings: Part 1...

As with any employee of a public sector organization, I’m pretty much pissed with the hierarchal structure and the ambience at my workplace. It’s not like there’s dearth of talent or challenges here but there’s beating around the bush and nasty politics at each stage. Just like Dilbert puts it :D

I’m not gonna delve into functional details of my workplace, not in this post cuz I wanna start on a comical note as of now. But in the ensuing parts, I intend to make a clear analysis of what n where things tend to go wrong, in an organization in general with specific emphasis on PSUs...

Before I get into finer details, lemme get to the funnier ones...It beats me as to how one can have a global perspective when ppl in ur workplace suck at communication skills...And as some1 whoz always believed that language is a window to one’s overall personality, a spectacular powerhouse with which ppl n nations can b understood, it pains my arse bigtime when ppl make a huge mockery of this whole deal…

Lost in translation: A case in point

I’m hereby reproducing, verbatim, a conversation which took place between me and a technician (lets cal him jackass) which, I hope, will substantiate my aforementioned point.

As I strode into my workplace on an early Monday morning, I was greeted by a rather curious glance by Mr. Jackass who was carefully scrutinizing the livestrong band I was sporting. The following convo ensued…

“Jackass: Why is u wearing that black?”
“Yours_truly : Err, it’s a band, the proceeds of whose sale goes to the cancer research institute run by Lance Armstrong, the legendary cyclist who fought prostate cancer n created history by winning the tour-de-france seven times in a row (Lil’ did I know that all this explanation fell on deaf ears :x)
” Jackass: All that ok, but what is the use?”
“Yours_truly: (WTF?! What better purpose can anything serve?) Sir, it can be used as a friendship band”
“Jackass : Oh meaning u want to make friendship with someone, u put that ah?”
“Yours_truly: Umm, guess u cud say that (though the literary purists will squirm n writhe in disgust)
“Jackass: Oh then if u want to make love also u can put this ah?”
“Yours_truly: ( :o :P :D) Sir, for that, u actually need a different kinda rubber”

Hope u can understand my bewilderment after I heard that…Now if such is the state of affairs at what’s considered to be amongst the top PSUs, I can’t help wondering how it’d be in the ones in the lower echelons in the not-so-looked upto organizations (whatever that means!)

P.s. I promise not to pain u with such crappy convos in my ensuing posts lest u stop visiting my blog for distorting ur communication skills
P.p.s I don’t claim to be an exponent of communication, nor am I sayin ‘tis the only way forward…Jus ventin my frustration for being caught at the wrong place…
To be contd...
